Our Story
Genesis Jewels was born out of my inability to throw old materials away. My mother may call it hoarding but I call it the beginning of Genesis Jewels. I could always see the potential, the wonder, the endless possibility. Genesis Jewels also formed out of a need for release, a therapy of sorts. I was suffering with a chronic condition called PMDD (Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder) that made every month feel impossible.
Which in turn made sustaining a job incredibly difficult, creating my own brand felt liberating. Not only was I able to work around the ebs and flows of my health condition but transforming discarded materials into treasure with my hands was soothing my PMDD symptoms. I attended workshops aimed at creating connection and supporting mental health services. These workshops were a life send for me and a big reason why skill sharing and community are at the heart on Genesis Jewels.
